Most women start to feel PMS symptoms 3 to 7 days before menstruation starts. But what’s happening inside your body that leads to your period is approximately two weeks ahead of time. The levels of estrogen and progesterone fluctuate while your ovaries start to produce testosterone. Progesterone increases sebum (oil) production and compresses your pores, creating clogged pores and blemishes. In addition testosterone is doing its best to ramp up sebum, as well, and for some women that leads to unwanted breakouts.
